Neon Zebra – Fruit Stripe Gum Nails

For Christmas at work, my Secret Santa got me a Value Twin Pack of Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in Wild Child (Zebra) and Kitty, Kitty (Leopard). I haven’t tried these before because I like to create my own designs but since they were a gift, I figured I’d give them a whirl.

Salon Effects: essentially nail polish that comes in the form of a sticker that one can lay on each nail. The strips come in a range of sizes that you match up to each of your nails before peeling off the protective plastic layer. Once you’ve peeled off the plastic, you lay the strip on each nail one-by-one and carefully mold it to your nail. From there, you use a nail file  to file away any of the strip that extends beyond the free edge of your nail. From the packaging and commercials, I thought this would be a pretty quick and easy process but I struggled to get them to lay flat with no wrinkles. I am applying the strips over acrylic not natural nails but sheesh. Here’s the result…

Anyways, once I had 10 strips affixed to my nails, I decided to jazz it up a bit. I used Kiss Nail Art paint to color the white portions of the Zebra print in neon green, orange and yellow. Does anybody remember Fruit Stripe gum??

Yipes! Stripes! Fruit Stripe Gum!

I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of these nail polish strips but I’ll reserve judgement for now. Whenever I take a break from my fun acrylic stiletto nails and go back to my natural nails, I’ll try the leopard print ones out.

For the colors I used on top of the zebra print…
